What is Tense?
Tense shows the time of an action. There are 3 main tenses with 4 aspects each = 12 Tenses total.

Important Tense Rules for CTET:
1. Present Perfect Tense: Used for an action that started in the past and continues to present. Structure: has/have + V3. Example: She has lived here for 10 years.
2. Past Perfect Tense: Used for an action completed before another past action. Structure: had + V3. Example: The train had left before I reached.
3. Future Continuous: Action will be in progress at a time in future. Structure: will be + V1+ing. Example: I will be teaching tomorrow at 10 AM.

Common Error: 'Since' is used for point of time. 'For' is used for period of time. Example: I have been ill since Monday / for 3 days.

2. Active and Passive Voice

Active Voice: Subject does the action. Example: Ram writes a letter.
Passive Voice: Subject receives the action. Example: A letter is written by Ram.

Conversion Rules:
1. Object becomes Subject.
2. Use correct form of 'Be' verb + V3.
3. Subject becomes Object with 'by'. Example: She is making tea. → Tea is being made by her.

CTET Trick: Only Transitive Verbs can be changed to Passive. Intransitive Verbs like go, sleep, come have no Passive form.

3. English Pedagogy: LSRW Skills

According to NCF 2005, Language learning is a process of acquiring 4 skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing. This is called LSRW.

Order of Learning: L → S → R → W. A child first listens, then speaks, then reads, and finally writes. This is the natural order.

Teaching Methods:
1. Direct Method: Teaching English through English only. No use of mother tongue. Focus on speaking.
2. Grammar-Translation Method: Teaching grammar rules first and translating sentences. Focus on reading and writing.
3. Communicative Approach: Focus on using language for communication in real-life situations. This is recommended by NCF 2005.

Learning Outcome Class 6-8: Students can read English text with comprehension, write short paragraphs, and engage in simple conversation.
